The City of West Sacramento celebrated the grand opening of West Gateway Place on Friday, May 19th. Located in the Bridge District northwest of Raley Field along Tower Bridge Gateway, West Gateway Place is one of the first workforce housing developments in California to receive the state’s cap-and-trade funding. Co- developed by Jamboree Housing and West Sacramento Housing Development Corporation, this newest affordable housing project features 77 sustainable apartment homes, 4,000 square feet of retail space and 12,000 square feet of common areas in two four-story buildings, and close transportation with bicycle and pedestrian paths. West Gateway Place is currently at full occupancy.
About the Housing Division
The Housing Division has the general responsibility for development and implementation of affordable housing programs, policies, and projects for the City of West Sacramento. These programs include the First Time Home Buyer Program, Inclusionary Housing Program and Affordable Housing Monitoring Program, among others.
Other Housing Division activities include gap financing loans for the construction or rehabilitation of affordable multi-family housing, and reporting on affordable housing production to various agencies such as the State Department of Housing and Community Development and the Sacramento Area Council of Governments. The Housing Division also implements special projects and programs that are non-housing in nature. Examples of special programs and projects include the Business Loan Program and the Micro Enterprise Workshops.
