| The mission of the Redevelopment Agency is to stimulate positive change, build a vibrant retail sector, a prestigious office address, diverse, high-quality residential neighborhoods, and to provide employment opportunities for all residents. The Redevelopment Agency facilitates redevelopment within the project area by encouraging investment by private developers and property owners, aggregating development sites and planning and entitling properties for development. Other activities include assisting in the financing and installation of public facilities and attracting and retaining businesses and targeted industry facilities. | 
Bridge District: Please click the link above for more information on the Bridge District and the 2014 Plan. |  | | Tower Bridge Gateway The Tower Bridge Gateway improvements support new high-density development and existing West Sacramento neighborhoods. The design of Tower Bridge Gateway anticipated redevelopment of the downtown seciton of West Capitol Avenue and the Bridge District. The former State Route 275 is being transformed into an at-grade street with signalized intersections at 3rd Street and 5th Street. The project increases pedestrian access by creating wide and accessible sidewalks and is creating connectivitity by tearing down barriers between adjacent neighborhoods. | | BRIDGE Housing In 2008, the City was awarded a $23 million grant for infrastructure improvements in the Bridge District. One of the conditions for award of these funds was the construction of 731 residential units within the Bridge District. The BRIDGE Housing development is the first project that will help fulfill this obligation. The project is being partially funded with a $4.9 million Multifamily Housing Program Grant which was secured by the Redevelopment Agency in 2010. The project consists of 70 one, two and three bedroom units, and will be consructed as three and four story buildings over a parking podium. The units above the podium will surround a central courtyard atop the podium and will include a playground, barbeque area, and green space with planters and benches. Surrounding the parking podium on the ground floor will be a community room, common area, leasing office and music room. Construction of the project is anticipated to begin in early 2012. |
