Departments
The City Manager's Office is comprised of six separate functions: Administration, City Clerk, Community Relations, Human Resources, Information Technology (I.T.), and Risk Management.
The Community Development Department consists of the Planning, Building and Engineering Divisions of the City.
The Finance Department oversees budgeting, cash management, accounting, utility billing and collection of taxes, fees and fines. In addition to these financial services, the Finance Department administers the City's refuse collection service and recycling programs.
The Fire Department has the mission of protecting life, environment and property within the City of West Sacramento. The Fire Department is divided into three major units which provide a wide range of services for the community. These units are: Emergency Services, Fire Prevention/Hazardous Materials and Administration.
Housing and Community Investment Department (HCI) is comprised of three divisions: Housing, Community Investment and Grant Administration.The Housing Division has the general responsibility for development and implementation of affordable housing programs and projects for the Redevelopment Agency and the City of West Sacramento. The Community Investment Division implements or administers special projects and programs that are non-housing in nature.The Grant Administration/Program Division acts as a clearinghouse for grant activity for the City including tracking of grants and notifying departments of funding sources available for City/Agency projects and programs.
The Department of Parks & Recreation consists of two divisions: a parks division and a recreation division. Currently over 145 acres of developed parks are available for local residents and recreation programs and events are available for all ages and interests. The department provides recreation and leisure opportunities with its park facilities and recreation programming. These programs are designed to help local residents improve their overall health and quality of life.
The West Sacramento Police Department is responsible for enforcing the laws of the State of California and providing a wide variety of public services to the community.  The Code Enforcement Division falls under the responsibility of the Police Department.
The Public Works department is responsible for the operation, maintenance, and management of the City's infrastructure. The department is made up of five divisions: Administration, Water Treatment, Utilities & Street Maintenance, Facilities & Equipment Maintenance.
The Redevelopment Agency is responsible for redevelopment activity throughout the 5,416-acre Redevelopment Project Area. The Economic Development Division manages the city's Business Recruitment and Business Retention Programs.
