Delta Gardens Park- Art in the Parks project COMPLETE!
We are proud to announce of the completion of the Delta Gardens Park- Art in the Parks project. Delta Gardens Park is located at 1310 Cold Springs Rd and has many family friendly amenities in addition to the new Public Art piece. The piece was done by artists Diana Walker-Smith and Olga Garzon and is titled "The Glory of the Garden". It features 3 California Tiger Salamanders, about 5 feet in length, sandblasted into the circular colored concrete patio. Two sitting benches were installed around the patio and are decorated with hand sculpted and bronzed California Tiger Salamanders. The center of the patio has a quote from Kipling sandblasted into it, "But the Glory of the garden lies in more than meets the eye." It's a beautiful addition to the park
This project is the first Public Art project the City has undertaken utilizing the newly adopted Public Art Strategy. The Public Art Strategy was adopted in an effort to finance, facilitate, and intagrate Public Art into all new City Parks and Buildings. The Strategy mandates that 1% of the construction cost of a the project be dedicated to Public Art projects. The Delta Gardens project was the first project of many projects to come!
