-----------------------------------------------------ABOUT MOOIE---------------------------------------------------

In October of 2006, the Parks & Recreation Department unveiled its new mascot – a bovine character with a trim physique. The fit cow was chosen for two reasons. One, COWS is an acronym often used to identify the City of West Sacramento. Two, the cow’s physique reflects the Parks & Recreation department’s commitment to encouraging our residents to lead an active and healthy lifestyle. The naming process took longer that expected and over 300 entries were received, but a name was finally chosen. On June 23rd, during the Delta Gardens Park Grand Opening, Mooie Armstrong was introduced to the general public. The name "Mooie" was submitted by Eliott Lucero, age 7, who attends Southport School.

Today, Mooie Armstrong works for the Parks & Recreation Department. You'll find him around town encouraging residents to stay healthy and to enjoy their leisure time. His primary responsibilities include attending special events, visiting parks, and approving budget items.
