Water Meter Retrofit - ARRA

Location of project:
The project is located in the northern part of the city, mainly in the Broderick and Bryte neighborhoods but it also includes an area near Evergreen Elementary school, south of West Capitol Avenue.

Estimated Completion Date:
September 2010

Brief description of project:

This water conservation effort will install new water meters at each residential lot within the project area.  This project is consistent with the water meter retrofit program and is partially funded by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009.  The project anticipates placing over 1,500 meters in the northern part of the city over the summer months, beginning in the early part of June.
The city is currently 43% metered and is on target to meet the AB 514 requirements to be fully metered by January 1, 2013.  With the completion of this project, the city should reach the 55% metered mark.  Each home that receives a new water meter with this project will receive additional information in their utility bill showing the quantity of water being used each month.  Every residence that has a meter has the option to switch from flat rate to metered rate at any time by calling the city Finance Department at (916) 617-4575.
