Batteries may not be placed in the trash as they contain hazardous materials and are banned from landfill disposal. Batteries are accepted in Waste Management's "At Your Door Special Collection Services" for Household Hazardous Waste (HHW). Residents are entitled to 2 HHW pick-up appointments through WM each year between July 1 and June 30 at no additional charge. Call WM at (800) 449-7587 to schedule a HHW pick-up.
West Sacramento residents may also recycle household alkaline, lithium, and rechargeable batteries at each of the following locations:

Residents may also drop-off HHW FREE of charge at the Yolo County Central Landfill every Friday and Saturday from 7:30am to 3:30pm.
