STREET LIGHTING

Currently the City of West Sacramento oversees approximately 4,500 street lights within the city limits.  This includes varieties from new developments to the lights in the established parts of the city.  The majority of lights in the city are High Pressure Sodium (which emits a yellowish light).  The city owns and maintains about half of the street lights while, the other half are maintained by PG&E.

Maintenance Activities
Maintenance activities include electrical wiring and light fixtures, replacement of burned-out lamps and repair and replacement of damaged equipment caused by auto accidents and vandalism.  These activities are overseen and coordinated by the Traffic/Transportation Section.  The work is completed by outside contractors and PG&E crews, depending on ownership of the street light.
