Disaster Preparedness.  As witnessed by the recent events in New Orleans and surrounding areas, disasters can happen anytime and anywhere.  Often times you may not have much time to respond. After a disaster, local officials and relief workers will be on the scene, but may not be able to reach everyone immediately.  Help could arrive in a few hours or it may take days.  Would your family be prepared to cope with the emergency until help arrives?

Click here to obtain a Family Disaster Supplies Kit, prepared by the American Red Cross.  The Kit offers valuable information on preparing you and your family should a disaster strike.  FEMA and the American Red Cross also offer information on storing emergency food and water supplies should a disaster strikes - Food and Water in an Emergency.

Homeland Security Terrorism Preparedness.  Prevention involves actions taken to protect lives and property. Preparedness is the range of deliberate, critical tasks and activities necessary to build, sustain, and improve the operational capability to prevent, protect against, respond to, and recover from domestic incidents. Response activities address the short-term, direct effects of an incident. Response includes immediate actions to save lives, protect property, and meet basic human needs.  Recovery involves the development, coordination and execution of service and site-restoration plans for impacted communities and the reconstitution of government operations and services through individual, private-sector, non-governmental and public assistance programs.  Additional information can be obtained at www.ready.gov.
Identity Theft and Financial Crimes.  The West Sacramento Police Department investigates identity theft and many different types of financial crimes.  Lean how to protect yourself from these crimes.  Click here for more information.

Property Auction. The West Sacramento Police Department has contracted with PropertyRoom.com the leading web-based auction site specializing in the auction of lost, stolen, seized and surplus items for law enforcement agencies.  PropertyRoom.com has hundreds of law enforcement clients and is able to offer a wide variety of items to the public.  The  items auctioned are lost or abandoned and the owners thereof unknown. The Police Department will provide new auction items as they become available for release, approximately every six to eight weeks.
