Current Construction Projects

The following are current construction activities in the

City of West Sacramento

I Street Bridge South Levee Early Implementation Project

 

The City of West Sacramento is about to begin the first in a series of levee projects leading to the eventual re-certification of the City’s levees to 200 year flood protection status.  The general contractor for this project is Envirocon Inc. who has also been selected to build the levee wall in North Natomas   The above pictures show the current stages of construction for the soil bentonite wall which will be the same process that will be used in West Sacramento.  This project is expected to begin in early September 2008 and will last through October 2008.

Meadowdale Area / N. States Streets Road Rehabilitation Project

This project will consist of the rehabilitation of the paved roadway in the Meadowdale Area by placing asphalt-rubber chip seal and slurry seal.  Construction is currently in process with an expected completion date of November 2008.

River City High School

River City High School is approximately 283,000 sq. ft. and will include multi-story buildings, a gymnasium, theater and extensive athletic playing fields on a total of 80 acres.  This will be the largest school project ever built in the City and will house 2,000 students.  The school is scheduled to open in January of 2009.

Inline Booster Pump Station

The Inline Booster Pump Station will consist of the construction of a potable water booster pump station housed in a single-story masonry building.  Construction began in the early spring of 2008 with an expected date of completion of March 2009.

Southport Parkway Widening Project

The Southport Parkway Widening will begin in early September and is expected to continue through October of 2008. This project will complete all the street and landscaping improvements between Marshall Road and Promenade Street.

California State Teachers Retirement System (CalSTRS) Building

Work continues on what is now the tallest building in West Sacramento’s up and coming skyline which includes 18 stories of office and parking space along the Riverfront. Construction began in December 2006 and the anticipated completion date will be in the Summer of 2009.

Cemex Portland Cement Shipping Facility

The CEMEX project includes the construction and operation of a cement terminal, an aggregate terminal and a ready mix concrete batch plant.  The structure is a 120-foot high, 60,000-ton cement storage dome and aggregate piles up to 50 feet in height.  The anticipated date of completion will be Winter of 2008.

Jefferson Plaza

Located at 3150 Jefferson Boulevard, Jefferson Plaza will be built and developed in two (2) phases which includes a Daycare Center and several retail facilities.  This project began construction earlier this year with an anticipated completion date of Winter 2008.
