Mixed Recycling is Easy
- Green Lid

Recycling in West Sacramento is easy thanks to the City’s curbside mixed recycling program. Residents simply place all their recyclables in a 64-gallon rolling recycling cart and place it at the curb for pick-up once a week.

Residents don’t have to separate recyclables. All recyclable materials, except motor oil/filters and yard waste may be placed in the mixed recycling containers.

Yardwaste - Brown Lid
Items that grow in a yard such as grass, weeds, leaves, shrubs, palm fronds and tree prunings should be placed in the curbside cart with the brown lid. Excess material may be placed in a 30-gallon can or plastic bags weighing no more than 40 lbs.

Where to Place Materials

Please place carts as shown on the diagram so they do not block drain flow in gutters. Allow at least 2 feet between the carts and keep carts at least 3 feet away from cars, boats and other objects to avoid damage from automated collection vehicles.

Important Notes:

  • Material must fall freely from carts when dumped, please do not overload
  • Containers may not be serviced if they are overloaded, are not accessible or include unacceptable materials
  • Curbside collection starts at 6:00 am. Containers may not be brought to the curb before 12:00 noon the day before pick-up and should be removed within 24 hours of the time of collection.
