The Refuse & Recycling Division, housed in the Department of Finance, is responsible for administering a contract with a private hauler to collect and dispose of solid waste generated by residential and certain commercial customers. This Division administers the City's recycling program which currently consists of residential curbside (newspaper, cardboard, mixed paper, glass, metals, motor oil, oil filters and yardwaste), multi-family (newspaper, cardboard, mixed paper, glass, and metals) and backyard composting. The Division also participates in monthly Household Hazardous Waste Collection events and sponsors "Cleanup Week" - a bulky waste drop-off event - twice a year.
