Q. What benefits can I receive if I locate in the Recycling Market Development Zone? Recycled content Manufacturers located in the zone are eligible for direct, low interest loans for up to 50 percent of project costs from the California Integrated Waste Management Board. The Board also provides technical assistance and help with permitting and siting. To qualify for a low interest loan, 75 percent of your total product output must contain at least 50 percent recycled materials, half of which should be post-consumer. Q. What are the terms of the RMDZ loans? Fixed low rates set semi-annually by the Integrated
Waste Management Board. Q. Will I be able to take advantage of tax credits through the Enterprise Zone as well as the low interest loans from the state? Yes! All recycled content manufacturing businesses located in the RMDZ and an Enterprise Zone are automatically eligible for benefits from both Enterprise Zone and the RMDZ program! The Enterprise Zone benefits include: Sales/use tax credits for manufacturing equipment,
data processing, communications and motion picture. Q. What type of assistance will I get from local agencies? The City of West Sacramento is ready to ensure your
transition is smooth and trouble-free. Locate sources of feedstock. Q. What type of recycled feedstock is available in the Sacramento area? Because of its strategic location, Sacramento is at
the hub of the regional shipping network for recyclable materials. Many
more thousands of tons of material pass through Sacramento than are generated
locally. That means that local manufacturers can easily draw their feedstock
from not only Sacramento County but also El Dorado, Yolo, Placer and Sutter
counties and beyond! The respective solid waste agencies continue to work
with their contracted and permitted haulers to maintain and increase access
to collected materials by local manufacturers.
