
New Business License Application
- Finance Department will forward the completed
business license application forms to the Fire Department for review and
approval.
- Personnel from the Fire Prevention Bureau will
review the business application to determine if the business is conducting
any activity that requires special attention under the Uniform Fire Code.
- If no such activity is indicated in Exhibits
"G" and "H", the application will be signed and sent
back to the Finance Department.
- If such activity is indicated in Exhibits
"G" and "H", the requirement for Fire Permits will be
identified on the business license application and the application will be
sent back to the Finance Department indicating that the Fire Department
will not approve the issuance of a business license until the required
Fire Permits have been obtained.
- If Exhibits "G" and "H"
contain no information to assess the activities of the business, a new
business inspection will be undertaken by personnel from the Fire
Prevention Bureau to determine the need for Fire Permits.
- Once the Fire Prevention Bureau determines
that a business needs Fire Permits, a letter informing the business owners
that certain Fire Permits will be required for them to conduct their
business activities and that fees will be required for the permits. The Fire
Permit fees are listed in the Book of City Imposts.
- After the payment of fees is received by the
Fire Department, Fire Prevention Bureau personnel will conduct a permit
inspection and issue the required Fire Permits. The Fire Prevention Bureau
will also release the hold on the issuance of the Business License.
Renewal of Fire Permit
Fire Permits are valid for single year after the
date of issue. Business owners need to renew their Fire Permits if they continue
to conduct the same business activities during succeeding years. If they
discontinue a permitted activity, they are required to inform the Fire
Department that the activity has been discontinued.
- Fire Department will send a Permit Renewal
Invoice to inform the business owners it is time to remit the payment for
the renewal of their fire permits. Usually, the Fire Department sends out
the renewal invoice one month in advance of the permit expiration date.
- After the Fire Department receives the permit
renewal payment, personnel from the Fire Prevention Bureau will conduct a
fire permit inspection and issue the required fire permits.
- During the permit inspection, it will be
determine whether the business requires additional fire permits to conducts
current business activities. If additional Fire Permits are required, the
Fire Department will mail out the additional permit invoice letter to the
business owner. After the payment is received, Fire Prevention Bureau
personnel will conduct the permit inspection and issue the additional fire
permit(s).
