Neighborhood Enhancement Program
The Neighborhood
Enhancement Program is a comprehensive neighborhood revitalization
effort utilizing
the resources and abilities of several
City departments such as Housing and Community Investment, the Redevelopment
Agency and Police, as well as other local agencies. The goal of
the Neighborhood Enhancement Program is to develop strategies
and changes to improve the
quality of life in the neighborhood. The program is affiliated
with the Police Department’s Measure K efforts to improve conditions
in the West Capitol Avenue corridor.
Once a neighborhood/area has been determined, a Neighborhood Enhancement
Team (NET) works with property owners to remedy code violations
and address other problems like blight and crime. The Neighborhood
Enhancement Program provides an opportunity for property owners
to get better acquainted with each other and to discuss common
issues and problems. The NET is typically comprised of a Building
Inspector, Code Enforcement Officer, Police Officers and Housing
and Community Investment staff. The NET may also include a representative
from the Fire Department and Yolo County Environmental Health Department
when needed during inspections.
Two areas are under study for the Neighborhood Enhancement Program.
