Multifamily Acquisition and Rehabilitation Program
The Multifamily Acquisition and Rehabilitation Program assists owners or buyers of deteriorated multifamily properties seeking to improve the properties to accomplish the following objectives:
-
To preserve existing multifamily rental housing in decent, safe and sanitary condition.
-
To establish standards for materials, workmanship and management practices in City of West Sacramento multifamily rehabilitation programs to ensure sustainable projects that provide quality housing choices for lower-income residents.
-
To encourage accessibility for disabled persons and energy efficient design, systems, materials and appliances in affordable housing.
Eligible projects may apply for below market interest rate loans when funding is available. Program loans may be used for both acquisition and/or rehabilitation of the property. Assistance will be provided for gap financing or construction (bridge) financing only. Program funds will not be used as a primary source of funding for acquisition or rehabilitation projects. Funds may be targeted to specific neighborhoods or to achieve specific City objectives. Mixed income projects (including market rate units along with affordable units) are encouraged to provide long term sustainability.
The program also governs rehabilitation conducted or assisted by a developer of new residential units to fulfill inclusionary housing obligations under City of West Sacramento Municipal Code Chapters 15.10 and 15.40.
Interested applicants may receive more information on the program by reviewing the program guidelines or by contacting the Department of Housing and Community Investment at (916) 617-4555.
