NFL FLAG Football
Sponsored by the National Football League, Oakland Raiders and NIKE. Open to boys and girls ages 5 - 14. Teams are coed and there is no tackling in NFL FLAG football, but lots of action. Cost: Early Bird registration is $45 per player before August 25th, after August 25th regular registration is $55 per player (additional $5 if a non-resident). Each new participant will receive an NFL FLAG jersey, tips book, mouth piece and, at the end of the season a certificate of participation. Practices and Games: Coaches will schedule the practices. Draft/Player Evaluation Day will be held on Wednesday, September 6th at 6:00pm at Alyce Norman/Bryte Playfields. All participants must attend the draft/player evaluation day. League games begin Saturday, September 16th. All games are played on Saturday after 10:00 am. Location: Games will be played at Bridgeway Island Park and Alyce Norman/Bryte Playfields. Jr. NBA/WNBA Basketball
Registration for West Sacramento's Jr. NBA/Jr. WNBA program begins in August. The program is open to boys and girls ages 5 - 14. Divisions are: Ages 5-6 Boys; 5-7 Girls; 7-8 Boys; 8-10 Girls; 9-10 Boys; 11-12 Girls; 11-12 Boys; 13-14 Girls and 13-14 Boys. Age as of December 2, 2006. Cost: Early Bird registration is $45 before November 17th and regular registration is $55.00 after November 17th. On-line registration will close on November 24th. Each division is limited to participants. Each participant will receive a team t-shirt and an award at the end of the season. Draft/Player Evaluation day is Saturday, December 2nd, there will be no on-site registration taken. Participants must attend draft day.  Opening Game Day is scheduled for Saturday, January 6th. Games are played on Saturdays. Locations: All games are played at the Golden State Middle School, River City High School and/or Bridgeway Island/Southport gyms. Club Hoop Teen Basketball
Registrations for our popular Teen Basketball league opens January 1st. The boys league is open to ages 13-17. Participants play an eight game league and receive a reversible jersey. Volunteer Coaches Needed! Cost: Early Bird registration is $45 per player before March 9th, and regular registration after March 9th is $55 per player (plus $5 if non-city resident). Online registration ends on March 17th. Draft/Player Evaluation day is scheduled for Saturday, March 10th. Players must attend the draft/player evaluation day. Games & Practices: Opening day is scheduled for Saturday, March 24th. Games are on Saturdays at River City High and/or Golden State Middle School. Coaches schedule practices during the week beginning March 19th.

Teen Basketball Clinic for Girls (Ages 13-17): There will be a clinic held by the River City High School Girls Basketball Coach.  If you have interest in this clinic please call 617-4620. The clinic will run during the time frame of the Boys Teen Basketball League, but specific times and dates are TBA.

   

Junior Giants Baseball
Sponsored by the San Francisco Giants Community Fund. Open to boys and girls ages 5-14. Four divisions: T-Ball (ages 5-7), Minors (ages 8-10), Majors (ages 11-14). Teams are co-ed and will play a seven (7) game schedule. Program includes limited tickets to a San Francisco Giants game. Call 617-4620 for information.

Player Evaluation Day: Wednesday, May 30, 2007 @ Bryte Park Softball Fields, 5:30pm. Practices: Begin the week of June 18th. Opening Day: Saturday, June 23, 2007 @ 9:00am. Games will be played at Alyce Norman & Memorial Field.

   
NFL Pepsi Punt, Pass, & Kick
Registration begins in September for this popular football skills competition. Participants will punt, pass, and kick a football as far as they can. Open to boys and girls ages 8 - 15, with boys and girls competing in separate divisions. Cost: Free. Event will take place during the NFL Flag Football League. Elk's National "Hoop Shoot"
Each participant takes a total of 25 free throws (10 in the 1st round, 15 in the 2nd round). The boys and girls with the most overall points in each age group for each division wins. Boys ages 8 - 9, and all girls will use a 28.5 basketball. Boys ages 10 - 13 will use a regulation size basketball. Boys and girls, ages 8 - 9 may shoot four feet in front of the foul line. All others must shoot from the foul line.

Pepsi Pitch, Hit & Run
The official baseball skills competition of Major League Baseball. Participants will test their pitching skills by throws balls at a target. They will test their hitting skills by hitting a ball off a tee and measuring both distance and accuracy. Finally, their running skills will be tested on their speed from second base to home plate.

Registration begins in March. Open to boys and girls, ages 7-14. Winners advance to the sectional competition in late May. Cost: Free. Events will take place at Kid Zone program sites and GSMS. For more information call 617-4620.

Hershey’s Track and Field
Sponsored by the Hershey Foods Company, this program gives kids, ages 9-14, the opportunity to experience the world of track & field. Participants can compete in a variety of running events, including the 50 meter, 100 meter, 200 meter, and 400 meter. Field events include the standing long jump and the softball throw. Participants can compete in as many as three (3) events, or as few as one (1).

Cost: Free. Events take place at Kid Zone program sites and GSMS in May. For more information call 617-4620.

   

Sharks & Parks
Sponsored by the San Jose Sharks, the NHL and NIKE. Now playing during The Kids Zone. Participants play in tennis shoes and will receive instruction on the rules, proper fundamentals and game strategy. All equipment needed for the program will be available on site. No extra equipment required! Open to boys and girls, ages 7 to 13. Cost: Free! Program Begins: February - April. Events will take place at Kid Zone program sites and GSMS. Playball Baseball Skills
This is a FREE program for boys and girls ages 8-14 to challenge their skills in batting, catching, throwing and running. Points are earned in each event and then totaled for the participant's final score. Event will take place in August at Memorial Park. Awards will be give to 1st, 2nd and 3rd place finishers.
