Flowmaster, the Exhaust Technology Company, opened a manufacturing plant in West Sacramento in January 2000.

"One of the primary reasons for considering an expansion into West Sacramento was the strong employee base in the area. The assistance we received from the local employment development staff was exceptional. They set up orientations at their facility and brought in several dozen people at a time for interviews, which resulted in the initial hiring of approximately 150 new employees. The SACTO office was particularly instrumental in putting us in contact with everyone necessary to put this project together. We had an aggressive deadline and with their help, the plant was in operation just six months from the initial planning stages."

The California Fuel Cell Partnership is a public-private venture demonstrating fuel cell cars in real-world conditions. The partnership which includes auto manufacturers, energy providers, fuel cell manufacturers, and government agencies opened its state-of-the-art testing facility in West Sacramento in November 2000.
