| March 11th, 2010 The Yolo-Solano Air Quality Management District is partnering with regional clean air organizations on a mower exchange program for local and regional residents. Trade-in those polluting, gas-powered mowers for cordless, rechargeable--and more environmentally-friendly mowers--at a reduced price! The program is easy and convenient, but the limited number of mowers are available on a first-come, first-served basis beginning April 1, 2010. Two sizes of Neuton mowers will be offered--14-inch (for $169) and 19-inch ($269) cut models. Each model is discounted by $230 from the usual retail price, and shipping is free.

| February 10th, 2010 The City of West Sacramento has temporarily closed a segment of South River Road between Riske Lane and Ballpark Drive, south of Raley Field. The 2,400-foot closure remains in effect until April 2010 to allow utility relocation work as part of the Bridge District Infrastructure Project. | February 3rd, 2010 The West Sacramento Area Flood Control Agency (WSAFCA) has received a payment of $1,546,250 from the state of California, under the Early Implementation Levee Improvement Program. The total amount of the state's WSAFCA funding will be $5 million. The City of West Sacramento and WSAFCA are aggressively in pursuit of funding from both state and federal sources to provide a minimum level of 200-year flood protection. The south sidewalk of West Capitol is the only path of travel for pedestrians. All businesses in the vicinity of construction work are open and accessible. | December 18th, 2009 Caltrans is making construction improvements to the Harbor Boulevard interchange crossing U.S. Highway 50 in West Sacramento. The construction area includes Harbor Boulevard from Del Monte Street north to Evergreen Avenue. Businesses on Halyard Drive remain open and can be accessed from either Beacon Boulevard or Enterprise Boulevard. While construction activities will be limited during the winter season, night work and road closures will continue. Remember, slow for cone zone and drive safely near the construction area. (

| December 18th, 2009 City Utilities Maintenance Superintendent Jim Elrod was among the honorees recognized by the City Council during the 22nd year of the "Service Awards" program. Mr. Elrod is saluted for his 40 years of service to West Sacramento during a career that began with the Washington Water Company in 1969. The City Council also honored employees with 10, 15, 20, and 25 years of service, in addition to City staff members who retired during the past year.
