Closure of Westbound 50 Ramp at Harbor Boulevard

Caltrans Traffic Advisory for Harbor Boulevard traffic: The westbound ramp for Freeway 50 off Harbor Boulevard is temporarily closed to southbound traffic. Southbound Harbor Boulevard traffic can access Freeway 50 west by turning right at Harbor and Industrial boulevards and driving west to Enterprise Street, then turning right and driving north to the freeway onramp north of the Enterprise overpass.The Harbor westbound 50 ramp closure continues into September. This ramp closure accommodates construction work as part of the Harbor Boulevard Interchange Project

Traffic Advisory: Road Closure on South River Road--Use Riske Lane/Ballpark Drive Detour
August 17th, 2010

The City of West Sacramento has closed a segment of South River Road between Riske Lane and Ballpark Drive, south of Raley Field. The road closure is necessary to allow construction of new roadway and utility infrastructure that is part of the Bridge District Infrastructure Project. A 25 mph traffic detour is in place south of Raley Field on Riske Lane and Ballpark Drive. The portion of South River Road south of the Riske Lane intersection will remain open during the first phase of the project. The project is expected to be completed before the end of 2011.

West Sacramento Urban Infill Project Can Proceed; Butternut-Hybrid Tree Resolution Reached

The West Sacramento Conservancy and West Sacramento city officials announced a settlement July 20, 2010,  that recognizes the feasibility of retaining the hybrid Butternut and commits the city to actions that respect and honor the tree.

US Conference of Mayors Adopts Producer Responsibility Resolution
June 15th, 2010

The US Conference of Mayors (USCM) joined the National League of Cities and National Association of Counties in adopting a resolution calling for state and federal producer responsibility legislation that shifts the costs of managing problematic product and packaging waste away from taxpayers and local governments to producers and the consumers of their products. The resolution's lead sponsor was Mayor Christopher Cabaldon of West Sacramento. The City adopted a similar resolution in 2009.

Transit Center Construction Begins in West Sacramento
April 9th, 2010
The City of West Sacramento and the Yolo County Transportation District have begun construction of a $2.5 million Transit Center on West Capitol Avenue and Merkley Avenue, adjacent to West Sacramento's new Civic Center. Scheduled for completion in August 2010, the Transit Center will provide a centrally-located link to West Sacramento's downtown and the Sacramento region. City Receives Enterprise Zone Designation
March 2nd, 2010
The City of West Sacramento today announced that it has received final designation as an Enterprise Zone by the California Department of Housing and Community Development.
The West Sacramento Enterprise Zone extends throughout the majority of the city and includes portions of the Clarksburg area. The zone has been granted designation until January 2023.

Port Receives Funding for Marine Highway
