The Mayors’ Commission on Climate Change will be conducting its second public meeting on Monday, March 18, 4:00 - 7:00 pm at the Sacramento City Hall Council Chambers. The meeting will discuss recommendations for the Built Environment sector that aim to reach the City of Sacramento and City of West Sacramento’s target of carbon zero by 2045. Presentations and discussions will be centered around the vision and milestones for the Built Environment sector, and the high-impact strategies and immediate actions required to reach these milestones by 2030.
The meeting will be open to the public and allow for public comments regarding the Commission’s work. An RSVP is not required to attend.
The Mayors’ Commission on Climate Change is a joint initiative of Sacramento Mayor Darrell Steinberg and West Sacramento Mayor Christopher Cabaldon. Recognizing the importance of preparing our communities for an already changing climate, the mayors have established the Commission to develop a common vision and set of strategies for both cities to achieve carbon zero by 2045. The Commission will convene for five three-hour public meetings, structured around key sectors including the built environment, mobility, and community health and resiliency. The final result will be a Recommendations Report that highlights priority strategies to achieve Carbon Zero to inform Sacramento and West Sacramento’s update to their Climate Action Plans.
