6th Annual WSAG Art Show

Upon coming in the north entrance of the West Sacramento Community Center visitors are greeted to a colorful wall of local art.   This art wall is maintained by the West Sacramento Art Guild.   Behind the wall visitors can find Gallery 1075 where art rotates on a monthly basis.  However this June, the WSAG has encapsulated the entire art space with the art wall and Gallery 1075 with over 50 pieces of art thanks to the 6th Annual West Sacramento Art Guild Art Show. The exhibition contains predominantly paintings accompanied by some photography, illustrations, and metal work.  Scenes of Yolo farmland, rivers, animals, and abstractions hang to be observed and enjoyed by guests of the Gallery.

Many of the artists in the WSAG are local and regional award winners.  Among the many talented artists of the guild is landscape artist John Nichols, a lifelong West Sacramento resident.  Nicols work captures the beauty of light and shadows the ever-changing skies of Yolo County observing the serenity of the fields.  His process includes photography, but also the craft “en plein air” or outside painting to create his own reference images for his paintings.  Nicols is an afflicate of various art groups and notes he is “proud to be a part of the WSAG and pleased to see the membership in this local organization gropu and evolve into a thriving element of our art community.”

The 6th Annual WSAG Art Show will be on view at Gallery 1075 inside the West Sacramento Community Center from June 4th to 30th.   Please join us for the free artist reception Thursday, June 21st from 6 pm to 8 pm.  Meet various artists and ask them about their work. Light refreshments will be provided.
