Take a Video Tour of the New Southport Levee
The Southport Levee Improvement Project strengthens one of the most vulnerable segments of levee along the Sacramento River. It brings this levee up to current Federal and State standards. as well as ecosystem restoration and public recreation amenities. The City plans to construct a Class A bike trail on top of the levee and other park lands are being developed nearby.
Levee construction began in early 2017 and extends along the west bank of the river, from just south of the Barge Canal, downstream nearly six miles to the South Cross Levee.
Project construction is on track to be substantially complete by the end of this year. Watch the video!
