Southport Levee Improvement Project Update
The placement of all project levee embankment material is completed just in time for the start of the annual flood season November 1st.
Overlay work along Davis Road and Linden Road, including paving of the 3 new cul-de-sacs within the project limits, were completed earlier this month, and striping is taking place this week. The two access roads leading to the Sacramento Yacht Club and Sherwood Marina are currently scheduled to be paved the week of November 5th.
In-water rock placement via barges and crane along the Sacramento River south of Sherwood Marina is now complete and the operation has shifted to the north erosion site. All waterside erosion repair work, including the placement of in-water woody material, is projected to be complete by the end of November.
Stabilization work in the south offset area continues and is now approximately 90% complete.
Aggregate base for the patrol road on top of the new levee is ongoing, with the goal of having an all-weather patrol road surface by mid November.
Project construction is on track to be substantially complete by the end of this year.
