Streets Team Helps Keep West Sacramento Clean

Post Date:01/29/2019 10:31 AM

The West Sacramento Downtown Streets Team is a group of volunteers, largely comprised of homeless West Sacramento residents, who clean up litter and debris around the city. The Team has picked up 14,480 gallons of trash, one 40 gallon bag at a time, in just four months! In exchange, volunteers receive gift cards to help with basic needs and access to employment and case management services that support their goals.

The goal of the program is to reduce homelessness by restoring dignity and preparing participants for employment. Since the program began in October 2018, three of the volunteers have obtained employment and two have been permanently housed.
