Barge Canal Trail Celebration

Mayor Christopher Cabaldon, Yolo County Supervisor and Port of West Sacramento Commission Chair Oscar Villegas, council members, staff and neighbors celebrated the completion of the Barge Canal trail on Thursday, February 13. The bike/pedestrian trail is 3/4 of a mile long and stretches along the south side of the Barge Canal access. The trail features bench seating ,upgraded trash bins and lighting. Replicas of historic artifacts were installed in the seating areas to honor the Port of West Sacramento's heritage.

This is the first phase of the Central Park concept which will later feature an Arlington Neighborhood park. Sidewalk and trail-head improvements along Jefferson Blvd. are also planned, along with public access upgrades on the south side of the Stone Locks Facility..
