New Construction Projects On West Capitol Avenue
If you haven’t traveled down West Capitol Avenue lately, you probably haven’t seen two of the City’s newest projects under construction. Here's an update:
The Home2 Suites by Hilton Hotels on 1020 West Capitol Avenue in the Central Business District is expected to be complete by the fall of 2020. The extended stay hotel will contain 115 rooms in the four-story building, along with an outdoor pool and fitness center. Some rooms also offer full kitchens and extra work spaces. Presidio Co. purchased the lot in December 2018, with plans to invest in the location’s close proximity to River Cat's Sutter Health Park and downtown Sacramento.
Construction of the Supportive Housing project on 1801 West Capitol Avenue is well under way. It is the first permanent supportive housing development for homeless residents in West Sacramento. Built by the non-profit organization Mercy Housing, construction began in May 2020. The project will house 85 residential units, work readiness services, substance abuse treatment, and more. Mercy Housing specializes in helping low-income families, seniors, and individuals in need. The project will help serve the homeless population in West Sacramento.
The housing project is expected to open by the fall of 2021.
