
Statement regarding the California Department of Fish and Wildlife's detection of Golden Mussel in Port of West Sacramento:
The City of West Sacramento and the Port of West Sacramento are working closely with the CA Department of Fish and Wildlife (CDFW) and regional partners regarding the recent findings of the invasive Golden Mussel species at the Port of West Sacramento. We are urging users of Lake Washington, the Deep Water Ship Channel, and the Barge Canal to thoroughly inspect, drain, clean, and dry their watercraft equipment when exiting these bodies of water to help reduce the spread of the species into different bodies of water.
You can help CDFW monitor the state’s waters for golden mussel by reporting organisms suspected to be golden mussel to CDFW’s Invasive Species Program: https://arcg.is/10D4G8.
