Southport Levee Improvement Project Update
With the drier weather, construction activities for the Southport Levee Improvement Project are beginning to ramp back up for the spring and summer. The work will affect access to South River Road from Locks Drive south to Gregory Avenue, while still providing access to the marinas.
Beginning April 8, 2018 South River Road at Locks Drive will be closed by concrete barriers and a gate to be used only by construction crews and emergency access only. At the conclusion of the project, plans call for reopening South River Road at Locks Drive with a dead-end and gravel turnaround approximately 0.6 miles southeast of Locks Drive.
From April 8, 2018 to October 31, 2018, access to the marinas (Sherwood and Yacht Club) will be available from Village Parkway just north of Bees Lake. South River Road will remain open between the marinas with a dead-end and turnaround configuration provided at Davis Road.
