Summer Active Aging Events & Trips

West Sacramento seniors 50 years or older are invited to the Community Center (1075 West Capitol Avenue) to join in on all the events and trips going on in the summer! 

Hobby Lobby and Lunch at Golden Corral

Hobby Lobby is a retail store that sells arts and craft supplies, fabrics, baskets, silk flowers, needlework, picture framing, party supplies, furniture, and other related items. Please bring money for any purchases you would like to make. Space is limited so please register early.

Date: Friday, June 15th
Time: 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Avoiding Identity Theft

Identity theft is when someone steals your personal information, like your name, Social Security number, and bank account information, and uses it to commit fraud or other crimes.Julie Bates Gerontologist and Associate State Director for AARP will present the high- and low- tech ways of protecting yourself. Come to this class and learn how to protect yourself.

Android Phone Training

Learning how to efficiently operate and customize a smart phone is an essential skill for communication. Attend a FREE training and make your Android work better for you! Learn how to make your smartphone louder and easier to hear, send text messages, connect Bluetooth devices, operate the basic functions of your smartphone and much more! Space is limited. Registration is required.

Fab 4th Celebration

Come join Active Aging's Fab 4th celebration. Participants will enjoy a delicious BBQ lunch, root beer floats and play bingo for a chance to win some great prizes. You are encouraged, but not required, to wear red, white and blue. Space is limited, please register by June 28th! 

Date: Tuesday, July 3rd (Please note that the Community Center will be closed on July 4th in observance of Independence Day.)

Fab 4th senior celebration at community center

California State Fair

The CA State Fair typically draws over 700,000 attendees each year. The Fair has a wide range of attractions and activities for everyone including traditional competitive exhibits, agriculture, home art and technological competitions, thrill rides, big name entertainment and specialty foods. Fridays are senior savings day, admission is only $8.00 for seniors age 62 & better. Seniors ride free on the Grand Carousel and the Giant Wheel. Regular admission is $14.

Coffee with a COP

West Sacramento police officers will be in the the Senior Lounge at the Community Center to enjoy a cup of coffee with participants. Please take advantage of this event to come talk with local police officers, ask questions, voice your concerns and get to know the officers who patrol your community. Coffee will be provided.

Date: Wednesday, July 25th
Time: 10 a.m. to 11 a.m.
Cost: FREE
