Background:
The City Council approved General Plan 2035 on November 16, 2016 that guides how the City should develop over time. A goal of the General Plan 2035 process was to ensure that the City’s utilities will serve existing and projected future customers. In conjunction with the General Plan, the 2015 Sanitary Sewer Master Plan (SSMP) Update was prepared to evaluate both the condition and capacity of the City’s existing sewer conveyance system. The SSMP recommended improvements to provide continuing service to the City’s residents and customers included the South Sewer Lift Station Rehabilitation/Replacement Project.
Description:
On October 18, 2017, the City Council adopted the Sanitary Sewer Master Plan Update which included funds to update Bryte Sewer Lift Station 32002. In the 2022/2023 CIP Budget approval was given by Council to put the South Sewer Lift Station Ahead of Bryte due to critical assessment done by maintenance staff. The South Lift Station is located on the corner of Park and Stone Boulevard near the port of Sacramento. It is directly downstream of Manna Beverages and Co (previously known as NorCal Beverage Company). The South Lift Station is severely corroded and the pumps have a hard time keeping up with the fluctuation in the flows.Project Benefits:
The City envisions a rehabilitated lift station to improve resiliency, efficiency and maintenance., which will provide residents with safe and secure quality services and well-maintained infrastructure.
