SCHOOL IMPACT FEE RATE

Effective August 26, 2024, Washington Unified School District has increased developers fee to $0.84 per square foot for Commercial/Industrial and $5.17 per square foot for Residential. 

FEES ADJUSTMENTS WILL GO INTO EFFECT NOVEMBER 1, 2025

The Community Development and Fire Departments are adjusting the user fees for many services and permits. The updated fees were recently approved by the City Council and are associated with Building, Planning, Development Engineering, Code Enforcement, Sustainability and Fire Prevention. Please note that development impact fees and fees collected on behalf of other agencies (such as the Washington Unified School District and Yolo County) were not included in this update.

The fee adjustments will go into effect on November 1, 2025.  Fee adjustments were necessary to cover costs and focus on continued improvements to provide customers with ongoing excellent service.

TINY HOMES ON WHEELS IMPACT FEES REDUCED 

At the April 15, 2026, meeting, the West Sacramento City Council unanimously approved a new interim program to reduce development impact fees for Tiny Homes on Wheels (THoWs) used as primary residences. The interim program is designed to better align fees with the smaller size and lower infrastructure demand of these homes (typically 150 to 399 square feet) rather than applying impact fees intended for traditional, larger single-family housing. With the adoption of this interim program, the City will scale impact fees proportionally ensuring consistency with State law. The interim program also introduces a flexible payment plan option, allowing applicants to pay fees over time.
