Southport Sacramento River Levee Improvement Project

South River Road Closure Announcement

Southport Levee Improvement Project - December 2018 Update

Construction for the 2018 season is coming to a close and flood season is upon us. All flood protection facilities are in place which includes all earthwork placement along the setback levee and fix-in place areas. All slurry wall work (conventional and deep mix method) along the project was completed earlier this year. Field crews are currently performing clean-up work and will continue to maintain erosion/sediment control measures throughout the fall and winter months. We have made substantial progress with placement of roadway gravel throughout the project along the top of levee and land side toe roads which will provide vehicle access for maintenance operations. Installation of post and cable fencing along the project limits continues with completion scheduled for the end of December. Rock placement at all three inlet/outlets and erosion repair areas throughout the project will be complete by mid-December with vegetation work on-going in the erosion repair areas. All roadway work which included realignment, new access roadway construction to the marinas, new cul-de-sacs, and overlay improvements along Davis Road and Linden Road have been completed. Restoration of the borrow sites is being reviewed and coordinated with the construction management team so completion of these activities can occur during the 2019 construction season. Throughout the month of December and into January, the contractor will continue to complete punch list items so that the project team can proceed with project completion documentation the first quarter of 2019.
