The Housing Element is one of the seven mandated elements of the West Sacramento General Plan. It sets forth the City's strategy to preserve and enhance the community's residential character, expand housing opportunities for all economic segments, and provide guidance and direction for local government decision-making in all matters related to housing.

Summary

The Housing Element which was adopted by City Council on July 14, 2021:

• Covers the 2021-2029 planning period.

• Provides an assessment of current and future housing needs, and the resources and constraints related to those needs.

• Provides a comprehensive strategy that establishes the basis for housing goals, policies, and programs.

Annual Progress Reports (APR)

Data from the City's annual Housing Element APR can be found at the California Open Data Portal. 

The Inclusionary Housing Program provides affordable homeownership opportunities for low and moderate income households. An affordable unit is currently available for sale at 2390 San Marco Street Unit 6, West Sacramento, CA 95691. Listing Price is $345,000.

How to Apply

If you are interested in purchasing an affordable home, the first step is to apply to the City for household income verification. Download and complete the application form at the link below and submit it with the required income documentation. The form also includes current income limits and important information about occupancy and resale restrictions, along with FAQs about the program.

Within about 1–2 weeks, you will receive a letter from the City confirming your household’s income qualification. You may then present this letter to the real estate agent representing the available inclusionary home.
