Our Art Matters Deadline January 3rd 
Accepting visual art submissions until Friday January 3rd 2020 for Our Art Matters: Visualizing the African American Experience 

Gallery 1075 welcomes it's second Our Art Matters exhibition as an extension of observing African American History Month.  Art must be inspired by or related to the African American experience. Examples of art may be inspired or relate to: depictions or celebrations of African American life, the diaspora, history, civil rights and social justice.  
African-American artists are strongly encouraged to apply, all artists are welcome. All art must fit the theme of the show.   The exhibition will be on display for the month of February.  There will be a free art reception open to the public on Wednesday, February 5th 2020 from 6 pm to 8 pm.

There are no fees associated with this exhibition.  Gallery 1075 does not sell any artwork.
All sales are the responsibility of the artists after the exhibition closes.

Exhibition Timeline:
Call Deadline: Friday, January 3rd, 2020
Notify artists: End of day Monday, January 6th, 2020
Artists Paperwork: Due by January 10th, 2020
Art Drop Off: January 28th-31st  
Exhibition: February 4th  -27th 
Art reception: Wednesday, February 5th 2020 6 pm-8 pm
Art Pick-up: February 28th , March 2nd-3rd 


a) 2 dimensional work only
b) Art must be related to the theme
c) Art must be family friendly
d) Max size 36 in x 48 in, 50 lbs. max
e) All work must be properly wired in the back* (no saw tooth hangers or hooks)
f)  Paper works must be framed and under glass, over 28 in x 36 in must use Plexiglass
g) All accepted artists will be responsible to sign and return an exhibition contract, release of 
     liability, and title card sheet provided by Gallery 1075 by January 10th.

*Your artwork will need to have the ability to be hung from the back by a horizontal hanging wire. Artist is responsible for providing artwork with appropriate hanging wire. For example, artwork can be framed with a braided wire on the back or a gallery canvas with a braided wire attached to the back. On the back of the frames, a wire will need to be mounted. Ideally, the wire needs to be 1/3 down from the top of the frame and been strung as tight as possible.   There will be no hanging of artwork directly on walls. Unstable, extremely fragile, broken, mended, or chipped work will not be displayed in gallery.
