The Park is Closed during Construction
March 2025 - May 2026

The design and construction are fully funded by $7,843,000 of Prop 68 SPP funding. Improvements will include a new skate park and pump track, playfields, inclusive playground equipment, splash pad, restroom facility, walking loops,  pickle ball and futsal courts, reflexology, mediation paths, and public art. Construction began in March 2025, and the new park is approximately 40% complete. Grand opening is slated for Spring 2026. 

Wednesday, August 27, 2025 Skaters, Hang Tight!

The new skate park is almost ready to shred and we’re just as excited as you are to start rolling on it! While the skate park portion is almost complete, it’s important to stay outside the construction fencing for now. In addition to being an active construction site, the concrete still needs time to fully cure and harden so it can handle years of skating, tricks, and good times ahead. Until the park's completion in spring 2026, please stay outside the fence so the concrete can fully cure. A little patience now leads to smooth tricks and epic sessions for years to come. Can’t wait to see you ripping it soon.

Reflexology Path Complete
The reflexology path is officially complete! Because of the unique nature of a reflexology path, each stone needed to be placed by hand, which meant a lot of careful, quick work to set the pebbles before the concrete dried. Staff, Commissioners, and Rotary Club members worked together to add each stone. Some added messages for loved ones on the bottoms of the stones, while others created fun designs.
While the park is still under construction and not yet open to the public, this path will be a relaxing haven for visitors once the park officially opens. Nearby, the wellness labyrinth will also be ready to explore, making this area a perfect spot for outdoor relaxation in the future.

After 10 full concrete trucks, the pickleball courts are in. The skate park is starting to take shape with California Skatepark Crews working on forming up the first of the skate park jumps now. Next up is the reflexology path and the climbing wall.

We officially blessed the project with the ceremonial groundbreaking—and the real magic is underway! The old buildings are gone and there is so much room for activities! Rough grading is done. You can already see the layout for the parking lot, walking paths, pickleball courts, and spray ground starting to take shape. We've got everyone buzzing about with electricians are on-site trenching and laying conduit, and we're starting to dig footings for some of the new structures.

Exciting news—construction is officially underway!  If you pass by Westacre, you'll see the contractor setting up construction fencing and marking areas for demolition. This is the first major step in transforming Westacre Park, and things will be moving quickly from here.

Stay tuned for more updates as we begin the construction phase. It's about to get down and dirty from here! Let's bring new life to this park! Including the future skate park expansion!

Exciting Updates Coming to Westacre Park in 2025!

The City of West Sacramento Parks and Recreation is thrilled to announce that construction on the highly anticipated park renovation is set to begin in March 2025! This project will transform the park into a vibrant hub for recreation, fitness, and fun for all ages.

Thanks to funding from the Prop 68 Statewide Park Development and Community Revitalization Grant, this project will bring exciting new amenities and improvements, including:

• A brand-new skate park and pump track for action-packed thrills.
• A refreshing splash pad and climbing wall for family-friendly adventures.
• Updated courts for basketball, pickleball, and futsal, plus upgraded soccer fields to bring the community together through sports.
• Modern public restrooms, shade structures, and ADA-compliant parking for accessibility and comfort.
• A health and fitness labyrinth and innovative play structures to inspire movement a creativity.
• Enhanced lighting, trash receptacles, and parking to ensure a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for all.
