**Sandbags**

   The City of West Sacramento is providing sandbags (up to 15 per household) and sand to City residents.  Bags can be picked up at the Public Works building located at 1951 South River Rd. or near the Port's guard shack at 2895 Industrial Blvd.  Sand is ONLY available near the Port's guard shack at 2895 Industrial Blvd.

    Residents do need to bring their own shovels to fill bags.  Information on filling bags and bag placement can be found HERE.

 

What Does the Public Works Department Do?

   The City of West Sacramento Public Works Department is comprised of five divisions.

   The Environmental Services Division is responsible for solid waste management including programs for re-use and recycling, storm water pollution prevention and storm water permit compliance, water conservation and awareness, and other environmental programs. 

   The Engineering and Transportation Mobility Division is responsible for the funding, planning, design and construction of City infrastructure projects. The Engineering Section is primarily responsible for design of roads, bicycle and pedestrian facilities, water and sewer infrastructure, survey and GIS mapping, traffic operations, signals and street lights. The Transportation and Mobility Sectionmanages transportation planning, transit and mobility coordination, safe routes to school, and administration of the transportation permitting program, grant acquisition and administration, and related activities. 

   The Operations Division is responsible for City's road, water, sewer, storm drain, facilities, fleet, and equipment maintenance.  In addition, this division operates and maintains the City’s Water Treatment Plant, the City’s Street Sweeping Program, and the Graffiti and Pothole Hotline.    The Construction and Facilities Development Division is responsible for overseeing the planning, design, project and construction management of city owned facilities. The division also provides project management, construction administration and inspection support for city projects across various departments.

   The Business and Customer Support Division provides support for the above divisions in the areas of office administration, finance and budget management and human resources.
