Appliances: (See Electronics Below for E-waste Recycling Options)

Beginning July 1, 2017, residents will be able to schedule up to (2) pick-up appointments per service year for appliances and other bulky items. Call Waste Management toll free at (866) 844-1508 for more information.

J & M Metal Recycling, 2205 Rice Ave., West Sacramento (916) 372-4223. *Do not accept appliance that contain Freon or other liquids. Contact directly to learn if they accept the appliance you are interested in recycling.

The Yolo County Central Landfill, 44090 County Rd 28H, Woodland (916) 617-4656, accepts appliances for recycling on a daily basis. Fees apply. Visit www.yolocounty.org/landfill for more information.


Battery Drop off Locations

  • City Hall, 1110 West Capitol Ave.
  • Fire Station 45, 2040 Lake Washington Blvd.
  • Sacramento Battery, 3616 West Capitol Ave.

Beginning July 1, 2017 batteries may be picked-up as part of Waste Management's "At Your Door Special Collection Service". Residents are entitled to (2) At Your Door household hazardous waste collection appointments per year, between July 1 and June 30.

Bulky Waste

Beginning July 1, 2017, residents will be eligible for (2) bulky waste pick-up appointments per year between July 1 and June 30. Call Waste Management toll free at (866)844-1508 to schedule an appointment or for additional information.


Bottles & Can Recycling Centers

CRV beverage containers can be recycled in your curbside recycling cart, but they also be returned for deposit redemption at any CRV Recycling Center. To find the recycling center nearest to you visit: www.calrecycle.ca.gov/bevcontainer/consumers or visit one of the recycling centers listed below:

Car Seats

Children's car seats can be recycled at the Yolo County Health Department, 137 N. Cotton Wood St., Woodland or at Davis Waste Removal, 2727 2nd St, Davis. Call (530) 666-8561 for more information. Please remove straps and padding and write unsafe on the plastic portion of the seat, prior to drop off.

Children's car seats may also be picked up as part of a bulky waste pick-up appointment.


Cardboard & Paper

Carpet

Zanker Recycling, 4201 Florin-Perkins Rd, Sacramento, 95826. (408) 786-8383. Accept clean dry carpet for recycling from 6am to 4:45 pm M-F and 8am to 3:45pm Sat/Sun. (Fees Apply) Carpet may be picked up at part of a bulky waste pick-up appointment.


Concrete

Cooking Oil: (Liquid)

Used liquid cooking oil may be taken to:

City of West Sacramento Public Works Corporation Yard, 1951 South River Road, West Sacramento. Monday to Friday 8am to 3pm.

Yolo County Central Landfill Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) Facility, 44090 County Road 28 H, Woodland. Every Friday and Saturday 7:30am to 3:30pm.

Cooking oil that is solid at room temperature may be placed in a sealed container and disposed of as trash.


Electronics: (Computers, Monitors, TV’s, Etc. No Appliances)

Beginning July 1, 2017 residents can recycle e-waste by scheduling a bulky waste pick-up appointment. Call 1-866-844-1508 for more information.

Good Neighbor Program

Yolo County Central Landfill, 44090 County Rd 28H, Woodland, CA 95776. Residents may drop off items illegally dumped on public property free of charge and qualify for free drop off voucher. Call (530) 666-8729 for more information.


Household Hazardous Waste (HHW)

Mattresses

Beginning July 1, 2017, residents may schedule a pick-up appointment for mattress and boxspring curbside collection. Some restrictions apply. Call (866) 844-1508 for more information.

The Yolo County Central Landfill now accepts mattresses for recycling FREE of charge. Call (530) 666-8729 or visit their website for more information.

Motels with a large volume of mattresses may call DR3 Mattress Recyclers to inquire about a having a free mattress collection bin provided. Call (530) 665-6877 for more information.


Medications

Re-Use

Yolo County Central Landfill, is now accepting items that are in working/good condition for their New Big Blue Recycling Barn Thrift Store. Shop and drop off items in good condition at the landfill. Call (530) 666-8799 for more information.

Vehicle Donations Many charitable organizations accept cars, trucks and boats as a tax-deductible donation. Search "vehicle donations Sacramento" in your search engine to find local organizations.


Scrap Metal

Sharps

Sharps can be picked up by Waste Management as part of their new "At Your Door" HHW appointment service. Call (800) 449-7587 for more information.

Yolo County Central Landfill, 44090 County Rd. 28H, Woodland, CA 95776 accepts sharps as part of their residential household hazardous waste program. Call (530) 666-8729 for more information. The County offers FREE HHW pick-up appointments for seniors and disabled residents who are unable to drive. Call (916) 617-4656 to schedule an appointment.


Single-Use Plastic Bags

Most West Sacramento Grocers accept single-use plastic bags for recycling. Contact the store directly for more information.


Used Motor Oil and Filters

Residents can recycle used oil and filters curbside. Call Waste Management at (866) 844-1508 to request a used oil collection container and filter bag.
