The Environmental Protection Agency estimated that transportation end-uses accounted for 28% of Green House Gas (GHG) emissions and that passengers cars produced 31% of these transportation end-use related GHG emissions between years 1995 and 2005. During this same time period, transportation related emissions were the fastest growing end-use category, accounting for over half of the growth in emissions.
